The 22nd Judicial Circuit-Juvenile Division seeks applicants for a Deputy Juvenile Officer I-II for the Neighborhood Accountability Board (NAB).

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Court Management or related field. Degree must be from a school accredited in the chosen field.

Prefer two years of experience in Social Work or a related field. Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of liability insurance and an automobile that can be used on duty (mileage reimbursement is provided). Must be at least 21 years old.

Job Summary

Under day-to-day supervision of Unit Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, Deputy Juvenile Officer I-II are responsible for the training and facilitation of Neighborhood Accountability Boards and maintaining a caseload of assigned youth. Interacts with numerous outside agencies and individuals and has the ability to locate sites within the community where meetings can be held. Responsible for maintaining and recruiting volunteers for the Neighborhood Accountability Board’s. Gives ongoing presentations to various community organizations to further restorative justice participation and restorative practices in the community to further client service. It is essential to possess a working knowledge of restorative justice principles. NAB/CSR duties require early evening work as scheduled.

Job Duties:

· Conduct home, school and community visits, with the purpose of gathering further pertinent assessment information.

· Monitor client compliance with programs in partnership with Neighborhood Accountability Board members.

· Perform initial, in-depth interview to assess accurately client appropriateness for Neighborhood Accountability Board, followed up by strong case management.

· Possesses excellent interviewing skills and has the ability to develop and give presentations in small and large venues.

· The ability to make Community presentations, as required.

· The ability to facilitate effective training for new and existing Neighborhood Accountability Board members.

· Available for regular early evening work to attend, monitor, and facilitate Neighborhood Accountability Board meetings.

· Must possess excellent organizational, communication and multitasking skills.

· Enter all case related information for the Neighborhood Accountability Boards.

· Participate in one’s own annual evaluation to assess personal goals and professional growth.

· Appear in court as needed.

· Possess extensive knowledge of community resources and programs for client referrals.

· Required to be “on call”.

· Computer skills are essential. Working knowledge of various software programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, the Internet, e-mail, and the Justice Information System.

· Other duties as may be assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Considerable interviewing skills to professionally assess and appropriately intervene in client systems. The ability to express ideas verbally and in written form to train Neighborhood Accountability Board members and to facilitate Board activities. Excellent knowledge of community resources, child serving agencies and other institutions in the provision of related services. Working knowledge of the Juvenile Code and Missouri Supreme Court Rules and Restorative Justice principles.
