Position : Junior Graphic Designer

Job Pay : $23-28/hr.

Job Type : Full Time/ Exempt

Department : Marketing Department

Report to : Director of Marketing

Location : Diamond Bar, CA

Business Hours : Mon- Fri, 9am – 6pm

Travel : 10% Potentially Required (Overnight, NorCal, AZ)

Job Overview : Ono Hawaiian BBQ Marketing team is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Graphic Designer to join our team and contribute to the creation of engaging and on-brand visuals across a range of media. Your creativity, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential attributes for success in this role.

The right person for this role thrives in a fast-paced environment, has superior communication and organization skills, and can handle many projects at the same time effectively. We’re looking for someone who loves food, restaurants, engaging with people, and has brand-building experience. Responsibilities include but not limited to supervise, assist, review, prepare and posting of the following:

  • Create designs not limited to social media assets, brand elements, event/restaurant collateral, digital banners/ads/content, and interdepartmental creative support. 
  • Maintain an inventory of collateral & decals, Grand Opening items and other in-store merchandise, proactively replenishing stock as required.
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout all marketing materials.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and tools.
  • Optimize marketing graphics & videos using Adobe Creative Suite i.e. print coupons, print/digital ads, visual operation instructions, company fliers, email marketing, digital menu board design etc. 
  • Image editing including but not limited to retouching, post editing, and manipulation based on brand visual criteria. 
  • Edit and design digital/print menu boards. 
  • Always be able to connect brand strategy with design.
  • Integrate feedback constructively to enhance your design.
  • Assist in marketing photo shoots and grand openings. 

Ad Hoc:  

  • Support Marketing Team with projects as needed. 

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Submit your portfolio and resume to be considered for the role. – Required
  • BA/BFA Degree in Graphic Design or Art-related field.
  • 1-2 year minimum in years design experience at an in-house creative department or design firm with preference in the food and beverage industry. 
  • Proficient with a Mac.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with HTML, WordPress, and motion graphics a plus. 
  • Knowledge of visual and digital design principles such as layout, color, typography, proportion, photography, and motion/rich media. 
  • Experience in developing various creative campaigns is critical.
  • Being able to demonstrate conceptual abilities in portfolio and talk through one’s process is important.
  • Experience with developing effective brand standards and ensuring they are followed.
  • Awareness of trends, with the ability to interpret them into high performing, brand-consistent creative.
  • Be able to work on multiple projects at once with precision and efficiency.
  • Be willing to help mentor other designers and collaborate with freelance support.
  • Be able to present designs to applicable team members.
  • Has strong conceptualization skills and is curious to cultivate brand understanding.
  • Must be proactive, detail oriented, and can work independently. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team.
  • Ability to process and act on creative feedback.
  • Able to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to individuals and groups at all levels within and outside of the organization. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate interest in and knowledge of the restaurant industry and food. 
  • Professional demeanor, dependable with a positive attitude. 
  • Must be focused and take the initiative to resolve issues.
