POSITION SUMMARY:

Bear Canyon Therapy Associates is excited to hire a full-time Physical Therapy Tech to complement our small, family-like, collaborative team of healthcare professionals. We are looking for a self-motivated, personable individual who enjoys working with patients in a fast-paced environment and should possess a commitment to personal growth, superior customer service, and the ability to work as a team. This position will provide direct and support patient care under the ongoing supervision of Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. This position will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to the field of physical therapy and provides excellent career experience for those interested in physical medicine professions.

General Roles & Responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with patients by phone and in person as they enter the clinic and throughout their appointment in courteous, professional manner
• Listen to patient needs, answer questions and direct concerns to Clinic Manager or Therapist, as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of patient account and employee information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and clinic policy
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain equipment, tables, mats, and treatment surfaces throughout the day and between patient use as indicated
• Assist in keeping the gym organized, neat and equipment stored appropriately
• Deliver equipment and supplies to the treatment area
• Prepare treatment area, patient, and equipment for therapy session including refilling ultrasound gel and cleaning spray bottles
• Assist with patient transport
• Monitor laundry and ensure all areas are supplied with necessary linens

Patient Care Roles & Responsibilities:

• Communicate daily with all therapists to determine their expectations each day
• Become familiar with flowsheets and exercises prescribed by each therapist
• Prepare, set up and adjust exercise equipment as instructed by clinical staff
• Educated and demonstrate proper use of equipment and exercise routines to the patient
• Assist patients in performing their prescribed home exercise programs accurately
• Monitor patient progress and provide feedback to the therapy team
• Apply heat packs and ice packs,
• Track metrics as directed per prescribed plan of care
• Perform set up and take down of modalities

Clinic Operation Roles & Responsibilities:

• Regular and reliable attendance including at required meetings
• Track preventative maintenance, cleaning logs, and supplies
• Maintain inventory and report to Clinic Director for ordering
• Organize and clean staff/break areas
• Provide administrative support with answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
• Onboard new patients by collecting patient intake paperwork, verifying benefits, and ensure completion of medical forms
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

REQUIRED:

• Must be 18+ years
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
• Walking, bending, standing and reaching 6+ hours per workday/shift
• Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing typing and handling of equipment
• Strong communication and computer skills
• Ability to fluently speak English and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions, as well as follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, co-workers, patients and vendors
• Must be able to always maintain a professional demeanor
• Must be able to independently problem solve, prioritize assignments and follow up to ensure task completion
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings
• Ability to handle a busy and fast paced position

PREFERRED

• Bilingual in Spanish
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science or other healthcare focused major
• Healthcare experience (Physical Therapist Aide/Technician, Personal Trainer, Medical Assistant, hospital employment, chiropractic, fitness industry, PT & PTA students) with focus on customer service
