Perform advanced journey level work and lead offenders in the operation and maintenance of the equipment at the Power plant supplying utility services to a correctional facility that houses more than 1,000 offenders and about 300 staff. The Power plant, which is located outside of the Penitentiary, houses four 17,500 lb/hr boilers. Staff are responsible for operating three megawatt of emergency backup electrical generation system, maintaining steam, water and sewer systems in the powerhouse, and maintaining two water wells and associated pumps and water reservoir. Persons applying should have knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures; fuel and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of steam generating boilers, electrical generating turbines and generators or centralized air-conditioners and auxiliary equipment.
