What will you do?
As a Principal Product Manager for Billing at Amazon Shipping, you'll transform our billing and accounting ecosystem into a strategic growth engine. You'll drive product strategy that powers our financial infrastructure expansion while delivering unmatched transparency, accuracy, and actionable insights to our shippers. Your role requires deep financial domain expertise, strategic product vision, and a passion for turning financial complexity into competitive advantage through crystal-clear customer communication.
You'll own all aspects of how we bill and invoice our shippers, including all the back-end integrations required with our Tax/Accounting and Accounts Receivable systems. You'll create billing experiences that not only process transactions but actively help customers understand their spending patterns and identify optimization opportunities with Amazon Shipping. You'll ensure our customers receive timely, complete, and accurate invoices in the format they want and in a way that facilitates on-time payment.
You'll work at the intersection of financial operations, customer experience, and business intelligence—evolving our billing and accounting platforms from operational systems into strategic assets that drive customer retention and growth. You'll scale the Billing platform to handle more complex use cases such as Cross Border trade, ensuring any product offering raises the bar for compliance with local laws and regulations. You'll collaborate closely with senior leadership across finance, operations, legal, and engineering to architect solutions that make sophisticated financial operations feel effortless while supporting our 270% year-over-year growth.
Who are you?
You are an innovative product leader with a strong product management background and experience scaling products from 0 to 1. You have a proven track record of developing sophisticated billing platforms that effectively scale with business growth while maintaining accuracy and compliance. As this position involves regular interaction with senior leadership (VP+), you're comfortable influencing at the highest levels while also providing hands-on guidance to business, financial, and technical teams.
The ideal candidate has maturity and strong business judgment, with the ability to influence cross-functional and remote teams. External customer facing experience is desirable as our customer base is wide and international. You possess strong analytical skills and excel at navigating ambiguity in complex problem spaces. You have experience working with Tax, Accounting, Finance, and Legal stakeholders, with a good foundational knowledge of these areas to ensure compliance and operational excellence. Experience with Amazon financial systems (Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Tax Engine systems) would be valuable for integrating our billing systems with the broader Amazon ecosystem. You're a strong owner, right a lot, and have demonstrated excellent product management, prioritization, and communication skills. This role requires someone who can translate complex financial requirements into clear technical specifications, drive alignment across diverse stakeholders, and make principled decisions that optimize for long-term scalability and accuracy.

You will ensure seamless integration with Tax/Accounting and Accounts Receivable systems, providing the foundation for timely, complete and accurate financial operations.
Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
You will drive platform decisions that unlock new markets and revenue streams while maintaining impeccable financial compliance. You will define billing product requirements that enable rapid onboarding of diverse customer segments and business models. You will create flexible pricing and billing structures that support Sales-Managed, Self-Service, and SPOT market strategies. You will design cost analysis and recommendation engines that help customers maximize value from their Amazon Shipping investment, driving both customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
Operational Excellence & Automation
You will architect billing solutions that turn manual financial processes into automated, scalable operations. You will define accounting workflows that ensure accuracy while reducing operational overhead and processing time. You will create reconciliation frameworks that make it effortless for customers to match invoices with their internal systems. You will design dispute resolution and adjustment processes that preserve customer relationships while protecting revenue. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management when needed, and make strategic tradeoffs balancing business needs against technical constraints.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Intelligence
You will guide cross-functional teams toward unified goals that advance our market position through superior financial operations and customer insights. You will translate strategic vision into measurable business outcomes that accelerate growth through billing-driven customer retention. You will partner with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure billing products meet both business and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with global stakeholders in other regions to define requirements that support international use cases, particularly for complex scenarios like Cross Border trade.
Product Development & Innovation
You will define user stories and product requirements while contributing to the technical design of new product features. You will create frameworks that make sophisticated financial operations feel effortless while providing actionable business intelligence. You will define billing and accounting standards that position Amazon Shipping as the industry leader in financial transparency and customer value. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both customer understanding and operational efficiency. You will build scalable product architecture that supports evolving customer needs for financial data integration and analysis.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- 10+ years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with end to end product delivery
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience as a product manager or owner
