The focus involves both behind the scenes support and in the forefront of client interaction. The primary focus of a PT/OT Therapy Aide at Chesterton Physical Therapy is to support the therapy staff in documenting notes, assisting in setting up exercises under the supervision of a therapist, facilitating smooth flow of clients through interaction and engaging conversation, and participating in community outreach events. You must be willing to learn and show initiative. We will train you. Having a background in health care is helpful, but a desire to help people is required.Assisting the Therapist:Set up treatment rooms for patient evaluations and treatment- Cleaning Linens, wiping down tables and keeping the clinic orderly. Set up exercise equipment and Modalities for patient use as directed by the therapists.Assist in patient exercise instruction as directed by the therapists and monitor exercise safety. Assist with patient setups and application of appropriate procedures and modalities as directed. Monitor vital signs as appropriate for patients and clients.Assist with patient flow by effectively monitoring and supporting the timely care of each patient.Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by adhering to treatment schedule.Comfort patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the gym and treatment areas clean.Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information; HIPAA compliance.Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing results.Assisting With the Front Office Duties:Orient new clients to the facility and check in procedures, and assist in orienting new patients to equipment.Answering Telephone callsMaking Reminder Telephone calls to patientsAssist with Scheduling Patient AppointmentsFiling, scanningCreating Charts for New PatientsEnforcing Cancellation Policy with PatientsMonitor linens usage and inventory.Monitor and maintain clinic, kitchen and bathroom cleanliness (dust, vacuum, etc...)Other Related and/ or Given DutiesMaintain a Positive and Friendly Demeanor at ALL TimesBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insuranceVision insurancePaid time offEmployee discount Skills and Qualifications:Strong customer service and communication skills are a must!Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Time Management, Organization, Attention to DetailScheduling, Computer skills, Professionalism, Quality Focus , Friendly, Positive Demeanor at all times.Required:You must be able to reach, bend, walk, lift up to 30 lbs., use five finger manipulation over extended periods and stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.Knowledge of Physical Therapy Experience in Orthopedic, Sports Injury, or Exercise Science Setting: 1 year (Required)Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)Physical Therapy office experience: 1 year (Preferred)Office experience in scheduling and collection: 1 year (Preferred) Familiarity with HIPPA and other healthcare compliance regulations
