Job Summary

We are looking for a sales representative to increase brand awareness for our Omega One specialty aquatics products within the western US territory.  The ideal candidate will enjoy a mix of both inside and outside sales activities, have a previous track record of success building relationships within smaller industry specific retail customers and feel comfortable participating in industry related trade shows a few times a year.  This is a completely remote role with travel as required to fulfill business goals and achieve sales targets.  Spectrum Brands offers its employees a competitive base salary plus sales incentive compensation package along with all the other incredible benefits you have at your fingertips as a Spectrum Brands Team Member.     

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Generates revenue by soliciting and obtaining orders, understanding, and interpreting customer needs, providing product information, and developing accounts.
  • Develops territory by soliciting new account, building rapport, providing product information and explanations, and preparing ISO recommendations.
  • Achieves annual YOY growth goals (vary by year) for top accounts and/or overall account base.
  • Closes new accounts by answering telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries.
  • Develops accounts by checking customers’ buying history, suggesting related and new items, and explaining product features – being their main point of contact.
  • Develops meaningful relationships with customers to encourage trust and loyalty.
  • Cold calls for new account acquisition and follow-up on warm leads to further sales process
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and varied requests.
  • Explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Supports sales team members by handling phones and orders when others are out of office.
  • Understands and demonstrates the product or service to the customer.

Order Management:

  • Sees order process from start to finish. Receive order from customer, fill orders through order entry, communicating expected delivery dates, and explaining out of stocks.
  • Provides after-sale customer service by providing requested invoices – Sales Analyst to generate invoice when not easily retrieved from OS Invoice Inbox.
  • Confirms refunds and returns with customers – hand off refund processing and call tag creation to Sales Analyst.
  • Processes free goods and replacement orders for customers with issues or needing samples.
  • Confirms with customer collection for outstanding invoices to release credit blocks – handing off credit block release to Sales Analyst.

Business Development:

  • Assesses competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends and identifying sales opportunities.
  • Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts.
  • Sets data-based individual account goals.
  • Maintains and improves quality results by following standards and recommending improved policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions and participating in educational opportunities such as Litmos.
  • Supports Retail Sales Advisors in the field with general Spectrum inquiries and utilize Gratis for SPB customer warranty and promotional free goods they pass along.
  • Sales Rep. is required to attend trade shows/events and field work as deemed necessary by management.

 

Education and Experience Profile

  • Some knowledge of direct sales/telemarketing, typically gained through 1-2 years of experience via tele sales or customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Formal education past high school equivalent to an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Developed communication, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.

 

Required Skills

  • Strong PC skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • SAP experience is a plus. 

 

Work Environment

This is a completely remote role with travel throughout the western territory of the United States and also to industry specific trade shows nationally a few times a year.  Ideal candidate will live in the Southern California area.

Travel = up to 50%
