Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, environmental impact assessment, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management.


Your Key Responsibilities


We are seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our Midwest team and advance their career. Responsibilities will include leading the coordination and management of environmental permitting, assessment, and/or compliance work related to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act (BGEPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and various federal and state agency requirements as they pertain to a variety of project types including renewable energy, energy transmission and generation facilities, transportation, and private development projects.


This role includes the preparation, research, review, and editing of technical documents, such as habitat conservation plans, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and environmental and technical reports. Responsibilities will also include analyzing and summarizing data from wildlife field surveys and habitat assessments for a variety of species and incorporating that information into larger documents and assisting with field work and collection of field data as needed.


Other duties include, but are not limited to, participating in multi-disciplinary environmental assessments; recording, entering, organizing, managing, and analyzing data, writing technical reports for client and regulatory agency review; and attending client and regulatory agency meetings and providing recommendations and input.


Qualifications


Your Capabilities and Credentials


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and programs, including Evidence of Absence (EoA), and the ability to lead the analysis of biological data.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with federal, state, and/or local environmental permitting processes specifically related to endangered species, ESA, MBTA, BGEPA, and/or NEPA.
  • 5 to 15 years of experience preparing habitat conservation plans and NEPA documents.
  • Master of Science Degree (preferred) in natural resources, ecology, wildlife, or related biological field; or a Bachelor of Science Degree and relevant.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
