Assistant teacher for a 5-7 age class available starting April 1, 2024.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a classroom, preferably kindergarten/preschool or young elementary age strongly preferred
• Experience working with children
• Pass department of social services caregiver clearance & health screening (before employment)
• Willingness to submit to a background check (required by licensing)
• Complies with all state education and licensing standards and maintains validation of credentials for the position (i.e. certifications)
• Able to maintain a sense of professionalism, especially with parents/families and communication with parents/families.
• Willingly collaborates and communicates with their lead teacher and other staff
• Able to meet many needs at once and multitask
• Able to independently manage the daily routines and needs of the classroom, including classroom materials maintenance
• Interest in or knowledge of the Montessori Method and a Montessori classroom

Job description

The Montessori School of San Diego is seeking an assistant teacher for our 5-7 age class, available starting April 1, 2024. The hours ate M-F 8 am - 4 pm.

We are looking for a dedicated and caring individual to be part of our close knit school to work as an assistant teacher in our ages 5-7 classroom. You will work closely with the Montessori trained lead teacher of this classroom, collaborating with them and supporting them in lesson planning, working with the children, and classroom management and care. We are looking for someone who has either some knowledge of or experience with the Montessori Method, or an interest in learning about Montessori education and who will support the Montessori classroom and curriculum.

Assistant teachers duties would include:

• Assist lead teacher in implementing lesson plans
• Supervise children on the playground
• Prepare classroom materials
• Support and enhance the Montessori Method in the classroom

Who are We?

The Montessori School of San Diego was established in 1975 and currently enrolls approximately 100 children ages 3 to 9. The school has five classrooms: three for ages 3-5, one for ages 5-7, and one for ages 7-9.
