Research Assistant
The City of Warrensburg is now hiring a part-time Research Assistant. This position will support and enhance the World War II Heritage City (WWIIHC) program in Warrensburg, Missouri. Primary responsibilities include gathering existing research, uncovering new information, and writing content for the City's World War II Heritage of Johnson County and Warrensburg ArcGIS StoryMap. The Research Assistant will also help establish a social media presence for the WWIIHC and develop grade school-level lesson plans focused on Johnson County and Warrensburg's home front efforts during World War II.
This is a temporary, part-time position funded by a grant from October 2025 through April 2026, with an expected schedule of 1015 hours per week. The position will primarily work in-office at City Hall, though remote work may be approved for portions of the project.
A bachelor's degree in history, humanities, public history, historic preservation, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must be proficient with personal computers, laptops, tablets, and other office equipment, and should be comfortable using Microsoft Office, department software, and web-based systems. Preferred qualifications include two or three years of related experience and/or training and a working knowledge of American history, World War II history, historical research methods, and familiarity with Missouri history
